Arenal Region, Costa Rica

We were debating whether to head north for skiing or to soak up some sun over the Christmas holiday. After very little thought, we decided we really do prefer the sun AND it is a bit too soon for ski school for Reese! So we headed to Costa Rica. The girls were learning about volcanoes over the summer so we though Arenal would be cool for them to see the volcano and hang out in the hot springs. We stayed at the Royal Corin in La Fortuna. We couldn't have picked a more beautiful hotel. The hospitality and the staff was amazing! There is SO much to do in Costa Rica, we will definitely be back!

Our travel route this time wasn't the smoothest because we were initially going to Orlando. Had we planned better we would've flown to NYC and straight over to SJO.

Flight: BDA -> MCO (Orlando) -[overnight in Orlando] -> SJO

Once arriving in Costa Rica there was a 3 hour drive arranged by the hotel from airport to Arenal region.

The  drive was beautiful, we drove through towns and the girls specifically loved Cloud Forest!

Mayakoba, Riviera Maya, Mexico

This was my very first trip to Cancun and who better to enjoy it with than my tribe. We spent four days in April at the Fairmont Mayakoba and it was one of the BEST trips we have ever been on! The staff at the Mayakoba was extraordinary making our stay as comfortable as possible. It is a beautiful combination of the outdoors and luxury. We experienced iguanas and palm trees and almost a jungle like effect in the bungalows on what felt like a secluded getaway island. The girls were introduced to churros for the first time and Mariachi Bands. We danced the night away at the Mexican Street festival, slept by the pools, and drank plenty Pina coladas!

Our favourites:

All inclusive option, fresh daily breakfast including locally made juices, shallow kids pool and Kid's Club!

BONUS* If you are a golfer the courses are beautiful!
